Welcome!

Welcome to IPRO 309's blog! Our full project title is Orthotics and Prosthetics Education for Latin America and the United States. Whew, that's a mouthful! You can glean from our title the project's focus. IPRO 309 began in spring 2006 to support the development of an O&P educational program at Centro Don Bosco, a school in Bogotá, Colombia. The IPRO still maintains a relationship with Centro Don Bosco, as well as Joliet Junior College in Joliet, Illinois, Universidad de los Andes in Bogotá, Colombia, and Laboratorio Gilete in Bogotá.

We love acronyms, so to help you along the way, here's a quick guide to some of the common acronyms that will appear on this blog:
IIT: Illinois Institute of Technology, a small, private university on Chicago's south side and home to the students and faculty who make up this team. (visit IIT's website)
IPRO: Inter-professional project, a semester-long course that brings together students from various majors, diverse backgrounds, and different skills and interests to work together to tackle a real-world problem. (discover more about the IPRO program)
O&P: orthotics and prosthetics
H.O.P.E.: Human Orthotics and Prosthetics Education, our logo
ISPO: International Society for Prosthetics and Orthotics (learn more about ISPO)
NCOPE: National Commission on Orthotic and Prosthetic Education (find more info on NCOPE)

Stay tuned for more!
